Star Grid Posters by Mark Brooks

October 22, 2009

These eye catching posters are by the very talented Mark Brooks, a graphic designer who spends his time working between New York and Barcelona. The images are created from a grid of stars that become clearer the further you stand back from them. You can check out his blog for more great work, or click here for even more stuff. More images past the jump.

Cool Typography by Andrew Byrom

October 22, 2009

First seen at the brilliant typography blog: http://balladora.blogspot.com/, this “font” by graphic designer/typographer Andrew Byrom is described as an “experimental design inspired by the forms created when opening and closing a venetian blind”. I have always loved the “Found Object” aspect of modern art movements – taking an everyday object and placing it in an environment where you are compelled to totally re-examine your perception of it, and asked to appreciate it’s form in a new way. In this case, I love the letter forms the venetian blinds make, how they hang from the supports, and the fact that they are an everyday object turned into a lovely piece of graphic design. Check his website for more great work – more pics after the jump.

Justice & Lenny Kravitz: “Let Love Rule”

October 7, 2009

As a kid growing up in the 80’s, with fond memories for movies and music from that era, this new video for Justice and Lenny Kravitz’s “Let Love Rule” really hits a nostalgic chord with me. From the main character dressed almost identically to Michael J. Fox in “Back to the Future”, to the saxophone solo within the song itself, it’s a clever and warm homage to that simpler time. Plus it’s funny as hell!! Video is after the jump… Enjoy!
