February 9, 2010

A great place to visit when in need of some inspiration! This is a small selection of works from their “best of” lists.

Augmented (hyper)Reality

February 2, 2010

This impressive short film is by Keiichi Matsuda, an architectural student studying at the Bartlett School of Architecture, London, in Unit 15 – a class that explores spatial qualities and possibilities using film, animation and motion graphics. As he explains: “The latter half of the 20th century saw the built environment merged with media space, and architecture taking on new roles related to branding, image and consumerism. Augmented reality may recontextualise the functions of consumerism and architecture, and change in the way in which we operate within it. A film produced for my final year Masters in Architecture, part of a larger project about the social and architectural consequences of new media and augmented reality.”

2009 Annual Report by Feltron

February 2, 2010

These intricately detailed graphics are taken from a personal annual report by Feltron, a New York designer with a passion for infographics, whom after every single  meaningful encounter with someone, each day during 2009, asked for them to submit a record of this meeting through an online survey. “From parents to old friends, to people I met for the first time, to my dentist… any time I felt that someone had discerned enough of my personality and activities, they were given a card with a URL and unique number to record their experience.” The finished work is stunning, and available for purchase through his site. More pics after the jump.
