Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

March 25, 2010

Last week saw the first look at the new movie by Edgar Wright – “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World“. Being a huge fan of his first two movies (Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz) as well as discovering the “Spaced” TV series he made with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, anticipation was already very high on this project before I saw this – now it’s release date can’t come quick enough! I immediately ordered all available volumes of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series by Brian Lee O’Malley this movie is based on, particularly because from what I’ve seen it will likely enhance appreciation of it based on the immense amount of detail lifted from the source material (as hinted at by the attached frame by frame breakdown video clip).

Game Over by Kordian Lewandowskiego

This is a very clever Pop Art rendition of Michelangelo’s “La Pietà” by Kordian Lewandowskiego, featuring the iconic Nintendo characters Mario and Princess Peach. It is a beautifully realised work, handcrafted from polystyrene. More pics after the jump.

Pavement Loop by Alex Varanese

March 3, 2010

These stunning images are part of a just finished 9-piece series by Alex Varanese entitled Pavement Loop. He takes a great deal of his inspiration from the environment around him, in this case the city of San Francisco, with much of his work first rendered in 3d and then re-worked and combined with typographic or vector based elements. Check out more of his work here.

“Enter The Void” Opening Credits

March 1, 2010

From the upcoming movie directed by Gaspar Noé, Enter The Void‘s opening credits are a relentless overload to the senses. If the movie is anything like this sequence, it should be quite a trip.
